CMV Facebook Page Reaches 30,000 Likes

Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) is celebrating 30,000 Facebook likes, the cruise line's page reached this milestone as CMV celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special event on board Columbus for nearly 700 'Columbus Club' loyalty members

CMV’s Facebook page was set up eight years ago on 3 October 2011, so that’s 3750 likes per year!

This achievement comes at the same time as CMV is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. A special celebration took place on board Columbus last Saturday night for nearly 700 ‘Columbus Club’ loyalty members, CMV staff, crew and celebrity guest Angela Rippon who is the ship’s Godmother. The cruise line’s Facebook page has featured spectacular images from cruise destinations in the past eight years. Photographs from across the CMV itineraries including the Northern Lights, Iceland, St Petersburg and the Baltic Cities, Round the British Isles and the Amazon, Azores, Spain, Portugal and the Caribbean have raised the profile of the page as well as new cruise ship launches, themed cruises and special events on board CMV’s ships. Mike Hall, Head of Marketing said; “Social Media enables us to stay in touch with our thousands of followers 24/7. They love to follow our ships as they cruise around the world and pictures build anticipation of cruises to come and bring back happy memories. When we started our Facebook page, only a small percentage of social media users were over-55s. The largest growth is now among older users with 500,000 new over 55s joining Facebook last year. This is our target market and we foresee new likes increasing as more people in the UK enter retirement.”

Cruise & Maritime Voyages is Britain’s leading independent cruise line operating six smaller to medium sized classic cruise ships sailing from fifteen UK and Irish ports to a wide variety of destinations. CMV’s smaller traditional ships can reach destinations and ports of call not easily accessible to the mega cruise ships and itineraries call in more unusual destinations. Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ on-board experience offers a friendly home from home atmosphere and passengers consistently rate their cruise experience as excellent or good.
