Sunday 9th August welcomed staff members of Crowne Plaza Hotel and Titanic Hotel to the home of Crusaders Football Club, Seaview, to take part in it’s first annual memorial football match.
Raising funds for local mental health charity Lighthouse, the match was played in memory of Bert McGuinness who sadly passed away in November 2025. Both teams consisted of colleagues who work closely with Bert at the Crowne Plaza, along with Bert’s family members.
Northern Ireland Travel News proudly sponsored football shirts for the match which exhibited Bert’s name and age on the back, with 1888 on the sleeve, representing his beloved Celtic Football Club of which he was a keen supporter.
Jonathan Adair, Managing Director of NI Travel News spoke fondly of the day, highlighting NI Travel News’ pride in involvement.

He continued, “We were delighted to be there on the day both on and off the pitch. A great day supported by friends and family”
A charity raffle was held on the day with prizes consisting of overnight stays in local hotels, to bottles of Champagne.
