Charity Ballot Raises £1,700 for Mae Murray Foundation

The charity ballot at this year's Big Travel Trade Event raised £1,700 for the Mae Murray Foundation, a local charity set up to allow people of all ages and abilities to "take part in activities, experience the world and enjoy friendship together in an inclusive environment”

Established by Larne woman Alix Crawford, who worked in the airline industry in Northern Ireland, Alix set up the charity in memory of her late mother, Mae Murray, who passed away in 2012.

Winner of the top prize, two tickets to Dubai, sponsored by Emirates went to Gillian McVeigh of Limavady Travel. The prize was handed over by Emirates’ local representative Lynsey Lamont.

Elaine McShane of Stena Line won two British Airways tickets to New York, presented on stage by Brenda Morgan of BA, while Graham Hennessy of Do Something Different won a prize of the Platinum Experience at Dublin Airport, presented by Dublin Airport’s Maura Moloney.

Maurice McKenzie won a stay at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, handed over on behalf of the Slieve Donard by Brian Ogle of Northern Ireland Travel News, while John Booty of Wendy Wu Tours won an Irish Ferries crossing to France, presented on stage by Marie McCarthy of Irish Ferries. Ian Kennedy of Blue Insurance won a Stena Line Luxury Hamper presented by Stena’s Ian Bailie.
