Cape Town Tourism Appoints First Ever UK PR Reps

2022 is set to become a monumental year for the destination tourism organisation as it launches its first-ever European International PR and Marketing campaign

Cape Town Tourism has appointed travel and lifestyle specialist, FAR Communications, to lead its UK PR & Communications strategy.  2022 is set to become a monumental year for the destination tourism organisation as it launches its first-ever European International PR and Marketing campaign with the support of international experts in the UK, Germany and the US. With ties in the UK and South Africa, FAR Communications is perfectly placed to propel the destination back to the top of British tourists’ bucket lists.

After two years of disrupted travel, Cape Town re-emerges with a renewed spirit, a wealth of hotel and restaurant openings, new immersive experiences, and inspiring community programmes.  The new Find Your Freedom campaign utilises choice-driven animation to inspire travellers to discover the city’s hidden adventures through their interactive gaming-style guides; the Fearless Foodie, Nature Warrier, and Urban Adventurer.

Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, said,

“We are thrilled to kick off our global PR & Marketing strategy with the support of UK travel specialist, FAR Communications. We have absolute confidence we will regain our position as one of the world’s favourite cities as we invite new and returning British tourists to ‘Find Your Freedom’ this year.”

Alana Fogarty, Founder and Director, FAR Communications said, “Cape Town is a city very close to our heart and we are truly honoured to be selected as the UK representative for Cape Town Tourism. We are excited to reveal the exciting happenings launching in the city and offer new ways to discover this breathtaking destination for new and returning visitors.”

Cape Town’s credentials are widely regarded – the destination has been recognised as the leading destination in Africa and globally on numerous occasions for international travel tastemakers including Travel + Leisure, Telegraph and the World Travel Awards. 2019 saw 5.4 million passengers arrive at Cape Town International Airport and though recently impacted by international border closures, these figures have been growing steadily as the city has welcomed back local and international tourists over recent months.

FAR Communications will work closely with the destination’s marketing team led by Chief Marketing Officer, Leigh Dawber, and Head of PR and Comms Globally, Briony Brookes.

Chief Marketing Officer, Leigh Dawber, said,

“We are delighted to be working with FAR Communications on our first ever international PR & Marketing campaign in Europe. The UK is a key market for us and we are eager to show our commitment to this valuable audience. Our new campaign Find Your Freedom invites visitors to choose their adventure online, combining real-life footage and playful CGI touches. We are confident travellers from the UK will find new inspiration in the hidden corners of the Mother City time and time again.”

Operating between South Africa and the UK, FAR Communications is expertly positioned to promote the infinite appeals of the city of Cape Town and deliver unique insights to the British media. Having dedicated almost a decade to supporting the tourism industry, Founder, Alana Fogarty, is committed to delivering intelligent, multidimensional PR & marketing campaigns that drive international acclaim to ambitious travel, wellness & lifestyle brands.
