ANITA Continues to Push for Financial Support

The Association of Northern Ireland Travel Agents (ANITA) continues to lobby the Northern Ireland Executive for a financial support package for the travel trade in NI - an agenda has been submitted for next weeks meeting with First Minister, Deputy First Minister and Finance Minister

As we approach the peak of the feared second wave of Covid 19 the Association of Northern Ireland Travel Agents (ANITA) continues to lobby the Northern Ireland Executive for a financial support package for the travel trade in NI.

Damian Murphy from Terra Travel said: “Time is rolling on and we now see newly proposed packages for both the coach and taxi industries as well as further support for those involved in the hospitality sector.

“Recent discussions held by myself and Richard Cooper of Carefree Travel with senior government representatives have been positive and further brought home our message to them about the effect this pandemic has had on our industry.

“Sources at a senior level in Stormont indicate that our case is now being taken seriously and viewed in a sympathetic light. We have now submitted our agenda for next weeks meeting with First Minister, Deputy First Minister and Finance Minister during which we hope make clear the urgency of the current situation.

“The outcome of this meeting will determine what other course of action is required in the coming weeks. We are hopeful of a positive outcome to the meeting resulting in some much needed help for the travel industry here in Northern Ireland.”

The meeting is due to take place on Wednesday 4 November and ANITA will be represented by Damian Murphy, Richard Cooper and Tracie Duffy.
