ABTA Showcase Support for Travel Recruitment Drive

Travel businesses are experiencing challenging recruitment environments as the industry moves towards a recovery period

Travel businesses are experiencing challenging recruitment environments as the industry moves towards a recovery period- the world is opening and the travel sector is ready and willing to grow once again.

ABTA have released that the company will move to support members through this period to ensure the growth of the industry.

In a statement, Mark Tanzer, the Chief Executive of ABTA said:

‘As our industry moves into a recovery phase and demand for travel grows, many businesses are facing a challenging recruitment environment.

The pandemic led to a downsizing of the industry’s workforce, with talented travel professionals moving to other sectors. The travel industry now has the task of enticing people back and attracting new talent to fill roles and help support the industry’s recovery.

We are actively supporting Members in this area. Next month we will hold a free webinar for Members – Careers, Recruitment and Future of Talent in Travel. Taking place on 15 March, speakers will provide recruitment strategies and help delegates navigate their way through existing employment schemes. They will also discuss the current candidate landscape and expectations, and how COVID-19 has made an impact.

If you cannot attend the webinar live, a recording will be placed in the Member Zone shortly afterwards.

Members can also get support through the ABTA Partner scheme. We offer training and recruitment helplines where a selection of ABTA Partners provide 30 minutes of free advice on a range of topics, including apprenticeships. You can find more information in the ‘Partner helplines’ section of the Member Zone.

In addition, we have a series of new materials filled with helpful insights and recruitment advice from ABTA Partners. Articles cover how travel businesses can attract talent and grow out of the pandemic and retention and recruitment in a competitive market, while there is also a new video and article on apprenticeships. These can be found in the ‘Partner insights’ section of website.

If recruitment is proving a challenge for you, do take a look.’
