Abercrombie & Kent Expands Into Bolivia with Acquisition of Crillon Tours DMC

The acquisition of Crillon Tours, which includes DMC operations and unique properties, opens access to some of South America's most extraordinary and remote destinations

The acquisition of Crillon Tours, which includes DMC operations and unique properties, opens access to some of South America’s most extraordinary and remote destinations, from the world’s highest navigable lake to the planet’s largest salt desert.

“Bolivia represents one of South America’s most extraordinary frontiers, with landscapes and experiences that are truly irreplaceable,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of AKTG. “This acquisition reflects our commitment to expanding access to the world’s most remarkable destinations whilst maintaining the authentic connections and local expertise that define exceptional travel.”

“We have been operating Bolivia’s most exceptional destinations for over 67 years, building deep relationships with local communities and creating unparalleled access to the country’s natural wonders,” said Darius Morgan, Vice President of Crillon Tours. “Joining AKTG allows us to showcase our extraordinary landscapes to discerning travellers worldwide, whilst maintaining the local expertise and cultural connections that make our experiences truly unique

Crillon Tours confirmed that their team will continue serving all global partners as usual, maintaining their commitment to exceptional service and tailoring experiences to specific client needs. Following the acquisition, Crillon Tours will continue to operate and grow its current business with the same Bolivian leadership and team.

In the coming months, A&K will develop and add its own dedicated DMC team in Bolivia, as well as innovative products and experiences – such as luxury camping in the Uyuni Salt Flats, which will complement and elevate Crillon Tours’ existing portfolio.

A&K has operated across South America for decades, with established offices throughout the region including Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Brazil and Argentina. The Crillon Tours acquisition adds unique properties on Lake Titicaca and a fleet of Airstream caravans operating in the Uyuni Salt Flats to A&K’s expanding South American portfolio.

A&K plans further investment in these newly acquired assets to elevate them to A&K Sanctuary standards, enhancing the company’s luxury accommodation offering across the continent. This expansion complements A&K’s existing South American portfolio, which includes the recently launched Pure Amazon riverboat in Peru and the Ecoventura expedition yachts in Ecuador’s Galápagos Islands.

Founded on Geoffrey Kent’s pioneering ethos of “adventure by day, luxury by night,” A&K Sanctuary represents the company’s collection of luxury camps, lodges and riverboats in some of the world’s most extraordinary settings. Further developments will be announced in due course.

This acquisition follows A&K’s recent establishment of a DMC in Mexico, the acquisition of Borealis DMC in the Nordics and significant investment in its A&K Sanctuary collection of luxury camps, lodges and riverboats.
