Women Guiding the Way Across the Globe with ToursByLocals

International Women's Day is a time to reflect on progress made, call for change and celebrate acts of empowerment, courage, and determination – United Nations

ToursByLocals supports female guides across the world, giving them an opportunity to participate fully in the tourism industry. The company encourages female-guides to be tourism entrepreneurs in destinations where the role is traditionally male-dominated and also provide a safe and successful platform allowing individuals to earn a fair wage. Female solo travellers should also feel at ease when booking a trip with ToursByLocals as there is a large selection of expert female guides to host the tours, if this is preferred.

We have rounded-up four female guides who are making their mark on the tourism industry, one tour at a time.

Meet Huda from the UAE

Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, Huda has a fascinating story to tell, from hosting VIP guests including Sheikhs and government officials from overseas to giving travellers a unique look inside local life and culture from the perspective of an Emirati.

In 2019, the number of employed females in the UAE amounted to 521,000 whilst the number of employed males in the UAE reached 4.57 million (Source: Statista). Like many female tour guides, Huda is paving the way in the tourism industry and offers a variety of tours to eager travellers.

Explore the desert in style on the Half Day trip to Dubai Desert. After an action-packed afternoon of quad biking across the silky ochre sand, Huda will prepare delicious Arabic coffee, served with sugary dates. In the evening, watch the sun set and enjoy fire-cooked Emirati Machboos.
