Where’s the Baby?!

Japan Airlines have introduced a new system that allows passengers to spot where babies and young children are seated before they book

No matter how cute the little bambinos might be, the cuteness wears off after an hour of screaming into a seven hour flight? Right?

That’s where Japan Airways swoops in to save the day – sort of. Their new booking system allows non-baby carrying passengers who would prefer to be out of ear shot of the little bubbles of joy during their flight, to see which seats have been allocated to the mini humans… So they can book as far away as possible!

Lots of airlines let their travellers chose their seats prior to boarding, but they don’t tell you if you are in the vicinity of a potential tantrum.

On introducing this new service, Japan Airlines said on their own web site: “Passengers travelling with children between 8 days and two years old who select their seats on the JAL website will have a child icon displayed on their seats on the seat selection screen. This lets other passengers know a child may be sitting there.”

This service is only available for those booking directly through the airline and is not yet available via third parties, so the new concept is not without a few wrinkles yet to be ironed out.
