When Darkness Falls at Sea: Torchlit Tour of HMS Caroline

For the first time ever HMS Caroline will be throwing open her doors after hours for an exclusive torchlight tour this Halloween

The iconic ship is hosting an immersive, family friendly experience on October 28 and 29 in the heart of the Titanic Quarter.

Small groups will be guided around the 105 year old vessel in the dark by torchlight for a unique experience.

On the tour an experienced team member will offer an insight into the spookier side of the ship with facts and stories about life at sea during the First World War.

HMS Caroline’s Marketing Manager Melissa Morton says the tours are a first, a fantastic step in the museum’s development and promise to be highly entertaining as well as informative.

HMS Caroline’s Marketing Manager, Melissa Morton, said: “This is the first year we’ve run these family friendly tours and we’re very excited to showcase the museum at night. It’s a fantastic step in the museum’s development and will be highly entertaining as well as informative – a very different night out!”

“Visitors will see everything from the Captain’s Quarters and the Engine Rooms, with the help of a guide they will hear all about heroic battles, sailor superstitions, and plenty of fascinating facts about HMS Caroline and its crew of ‘Carries’.”

“We can’t wait to welcome you onboard. Tickets for this atmospheric event are only £10 and can be booked online through our website.’ she says.

HMS Caroline is the last floating survivor of the Battle of Jutland in May 1916. The ship is now a floating museum, where visitors can step on board and experience life at sea through a series of recreated historic spaces and interactive exhibits.

The ship is the last of its kind in the world and was recently shortlisted for the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2019.
