In its latest travel update, the UK government has announced that it is ending mandatory quarantine for travellers from France while Austria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia have been moved from Amber to Green.

Many holidaymakers will be disappointed to see Turkey remains on the Red List.

The changes will take effect from 4am on Sunday August 8.

In a much lauded move, France has been moved to the Amber category, meaning travellers returning to the UK who are double vaccinated, won’t have to quarantine. The French Indian Ocean island of Réunion, which was blamed for France’s Amber plus rating, has been moved to the Red List, along with nearby Mayotte.

Mexico and Georgia have been added to the Red List as the UK government says “they present a high public health risk to the UK from known variants of concern, known high-risk variants under investigation or as a result of very high in-country or territory prevalence of Covid-19”.

India has been moved from the Red to the Amber List, which means that family visits, holidays and business trips will be much easier. The UAE, Bahrain and Qatar have also be moved from the Red to the Amber List.

In a boost to holidaymakers Austria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia have been moved from the Amber to Green List.
