Western Australia Announces Opening Date

Western Australia has finally announced when it will officially reopened its doors to international travellers

Western Australia has finally announced when it will officially reopened its doors to international travellers.

5 February 2022 is set to see international travellers touching down on Aus land once more as the country announced its latest move in conjunction to rising vaccination rates.

The Premier of Western Australia, Mark McGowan, has said that,
“Having achieved the 80% vaccination rate, the locked-in transition date is based on the latest projections for when WA is at its target rate of 90% double dosed vaccinations”.

The reopening would allow those fully vaccinated to travel across states and internationally into the area without having to quarantine.

He continued,

“WA’s current zero-Covid environment and high vaccination rate will help deliver the softest landing, to minimise the impact of the virus and to keep Western Australians safe for the long term.”

“I am confident that this is the right time and the right way to take this important step”

The opening, although set to go ahead, will be in relation to the covid restrictions and numbers at the time and are therefore subject to change if a review deems it necessary.

All travellers will be expected to carry a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of departure, take another within 48 hours of arrival and then a third on the sixth day in Western Australia. All unvaccinated travellers are required to quarantine upon arrival for 14 days, including after this opening date.
