US ESTA Fees Increase For First Time Since 2015

Travellers heading to the United States will face this fee increase in order to obtain the ESTA permit

The cost of an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) has increased from $14 (equating to £11) to $21 (equating to £17.)

Travellers heading to the United States will face this fee increase in order to obtain the ESTA permit.

However, US Customs and Border Protections have reassured travellers who have already purchased their ESTA prior to the increase that they are not required to apply for a new permit.

ESTA Permits are only required to be renewed after two years.

An ESTA authorises travel to the United States for stays of up to 90 days, for both business and leisure trips.

Speaking on this increase, US Customs and Border Protections have stated that, “As the $7 fee increase is relatively small compared to costs involved to travel to the United States, CBP anticipates that the fee increase will not adversely affect travel to the United States.”
