UK Departures Hit Highest Level Since Pre-Pandemic as Coronation Weekend Looms

Today, Friday 5 May, will see the highest number of scheduled departures from the UK since March 2020 (with 2,921 departures)./

This weekend, 10,962 flights are scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 1.95 million seats.This figure is 10% higher than 2022 and 625% higher than 2021, showing a spike in outbound flights.

Between 5-8 May, departures from the UK will also hit 86% of 2019 levels, as the country nears pre-pandemic flight capacity.

Across the UK, Heathrow Airport will see the largest number of departures (2,556), followed by Gatwick (1,499), Stansted (1,001), Manchester (1,000) and Luton (596). The most popular international destinations (by flights) are projected to be Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Malaga and Alicante.
