UK and Irish Visitors To Los Angeles Set To Top Pre-Pandemic Levels in 2024

To celebrate this strong recovery, Los Angeles Tourism treated staff at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays’ head office

The Los Angeles sunshine came to Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays offices in Crawley yesterday (24 August 2023) as Los Angeles Tourism celebrated Virgin Atlantic’s increased service from London to LA and the 100thanniversary of the Hollywood Sign with an ice cream event.

This month, Virgin Atlantic will offer a total of 21 weekly direct flights from London Heathrow to LAX, providing 5,957 seats. This surpasses 2019 levels by an impressive 18%, showing the strength of the post-pandemic demand.

To celebrate this strong recovery, Los Angeles Tourism treated staff at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Atlantic Holidays’ head office in Crawley to LA-themed ice cream flavours, such as ‘The Hollywood 100’, ‘Virgin Red Carpet’ and ‘Venice Vegan Vibes’, which was a welcome treat in the warm summer weather.

Francine Sheridan, Regional Vice President, Europe and Middle East at Los Angeles Tourism, said: “This has been a great chance to celebrate the continued growth of Virgin Atlantic’s service between LA and London. Their offering of more flights than in 2019 is great for the trade, with more opportunities to get clients to the City of Angels to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Hollywood Sign this year. I hope that our valued partners at Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays enjoyed the treats – and the sun making an appearance was a cherry on top.”

Rachel Wilton, Vice President of Global Sales at Virgin Atlantic said: “Los Angeles has always been a popular route among our customers, and we at Virgin Atlantic and our partners at Delta Air Lines are thrilled with the increased services to the destination, with demand returning and surpassing pre-pandemic levels. With so much to offer, there really is no better time to visit LA and we’re grateful to our wonderful partners at Los Angeles Tourism for their continued support, and for cooling us off today!”

The UK and Ireland was the largest overseas market visiting Los Angeles in 2022, with a total of 300,000 visitors. Forecasts predict there will be 330,000 visitors to LA from the UK and Ireland in 2023, and 2019 visitation levels will be surpassed in 2024.
