Find a piece of Spanish heaven with a family holiday to Costa Dorada. Translated to ‘Golden Coast’, this 92 km of gorgeous sand runs south of Barcelona along the Mediterranean Sea. With 300 days of sunshine a year and vibrant resorts – it’s the ideal place to get away. Bring the kids to PortAventura for an action-packed day. The theme park boasts rides for all ages and has its own private beach! It also has an Aquatic Park where you can lounge by the pool or get active on the slides. If the kids love watersports, head to Llevant Beach where you can all get involved with windsurfing or jet-skiing. Costa Dorada is a perfect place for families looking for the perfect mix of relaxation, fun-times and getting active.

Best for foodies – Algarve

It’s not just the Blue Flag Beaches that makes holidays to the Algarve so popular – it’s also the fantastic variety of food on offer that makes them a foodie heaven. Portugal is famous for its seafood, especially grilled sardines, & the Algarve offers some of the best Portuguese food around. You’ll be spoilt for choice on where to enjoy your evening meal with a choice of 8 Michelin-starred restaurants—more than any other region of Portugal. If you prefer a more chilled out dining options, the Algarve will not disappoint with lots of simple or traditional eateries to try out. And let’s not forgot Portugal’s world famous pastels de nata (custard tarts)! There is no doubt that the Algarve is a foodies heaven.

Best for romance – Corfu

Greece is as romantic as they come, so it’s the perfect place to spend a romantic getaway with your significant other. More specifically, though, head to Corfu. Known as the Emerald Isle, the second-largest of the Ionian Islands is covered in beautiful cypress trees, olive groves and wild flowers. There is over 200 kilometres of coastline too, so there’ll be lots of options for your romantic walk on the sands. But Corfu serves up more than just honey-hued beaches and rugged landscapes. Think art, music, food and dance, as well as lively celebrations like Varkarola.

Best adventure – Tenerife

Although famous for its nightlife & beaches Tenerife is also a great destination for those who love a bit of adventure. Almost half of Tenerife is covered by nature reserves, with a huge variety of terrains for hiking, mountain biking and cycling. Mount Teide is visible from many parts of Tenerife and at 12,198 ft., the giant volcano is Spain’s highest peak. Parts of the vast lunar landscape surrounding the cone can easily be explored on foot on marked routes. For a real adrenaline rush there are many places around the island where thrill seekers can try paragliding where you can soar over banana plantations and vineyards to land on a black-sand beach. There are also opportunities for caving and to enter Europe’s longest lava tube. Scuba divers also love Tenerife, not just because it has loads of dive sites but because the dive schools operate year-round.

Best activity/families with teenagers – Bulgaria

When we say Bulgaria, family holiday probably doesn’t spring to mind. But, Bulgaria’s fast becoming a tourist hotspot, full of child-friendly hotels and activities to keep the whole family entertained. Budget-friendly Sunny Beach is the most popular family holiday resort, with spotless Blue Flag beaches, a lively promenade, and plenty of watersports on offer. It’s easy to take day trips to the UNESCO-listed Nessebar where you can explore temples, chunky fortress walls, and an Ottoman-style Medieval Basilica, too.

Best for Luxury – Dalaman

From spice-laden bazaars and ancient sights to tree-cloaked mountains and postcard-worthy beaches, holidays to Turkey are teeming with delight. So it’s no surprise that this east-meets-west destination has cemented its slot on the holiday hotlist. The country’s award-winning selection of places to stay – from budget to boutique hotels – definitely helps, too. Known as the Turquoise Coast, the Dalaman area’s shoreline is a chain of coves, bays and long stretches of sand.

Best for Families with young families – Majorca

The biggest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, Majorca has long been a favourite with the world’s travel pack.
