Issues surrounding the UK border area is to blame for long queues at London Heathrow's terminal 5

Images have emerged of Heathrow Airport in London where long queues have formed at terminal 5. It is being reported that issues surrounding the UK border area is to blame.

Yesterday (August 25) passengers were greeted back into the UK with long “non-moving” queues.

There has been speculation that UK Border Force fault; with the cause being blamed on multiple arrivals from Afghanistan who have landed at the airport and is possibly adding to the slowed system, however this has not been confirmed.

The images appeared on twitter from Richard Gaisford of ITV who tweeted ““Welcome home”. Travellers faced with long queues this afternoon at Heathrow Terminal 5. Passenger who sent me these [images] says there’s little movement, and lots of frustration felt. More issues with UK Border Force being blamed.”

UK schools have restarted this week which has also been speculated to add to the long queues.

The exact reason for the holdup is unknown.
