Travel Warning Issued for Dominican Republic

Travellers have been advised to 'exercise increased caution' in the Dominican Republic

Travellers have been advised to ‘exercise increased caution’ in the Dominican Republic following a spate of robberies directed at tourists.

The State Department updated its advice by issuing a level 2 travel advisory saying that there is a heightened risk of crime and an increase in sexual assaults.

“Violent crime, including armed robbery, homicide and sexual assault is a concern throughout the Dominican Republic,” it states.

Visitors are warned not to try to fight back during robbery attempts.
