Travel Agents Raise Money for Children’s Cancer Charity

Travel agents tackle dry January to raise money for children's cancer charity

Hard-at-work travel agents in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, have found just the way to raise cash for charity during the busiest season of their year.

For the whole of January the team at Hays Travel in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, will ditch their favourite tipple to support the local children’s cancer charity, Angel Wishes.

They have called it ‘The Four Dry Weeks of Peaks’ as they will be completing the challenge during the peak sales period for the travel industry.

Christine McCleery, Branch Manager said; “For travel agents January is our most manic month and we tend to reach for the wine after a busy day. Not this year though, as for the whole month of January the Hays Travel team is saying goodbye to wine to raise funds and support the amazing work that Angel Wishes does.”

Angel Wishes was set up four years ago by Gaye Kerr in memory of Helen and Brian Kerr who lost their battle with cancer when they were children. The charity is run entirely through volunteers who support families affected by cancer related conditions. The money raised by the Hays Travel team will provide treats and surprises for the children of those families.

Gaye said: “Our charity aims to bring as much normality into our children’s lives as possible throughout their treatment. If for whatever reason a child is not responding to treatment we try to give the family as many memories as we can, as these memories are what carry us through. I would like to thank all the staff at Hays Travel for their support.”

The team at the Lisburn branch on Bow Street will be very grateful for any donations and messages to help them keep their resolve. Donations can be made in branch or online via their Justgiving page. Just visit www.justgiving.com and search for Hays Travel Lisburn.
