To help ease the cost of travel, Translink has issued a reminder for pupils across Northern Ireland that its yLink card will offer discounted bus and rail services.
The travel discount will help tens of thousands of pupils across NI receiving their GCSE and A-Level results this month.
A yLink card is free to apply for and is available for 16 to 23 year olds.
The Secondary Students’ Union of Northern Ireland (SSUNI), which represents over 50,000 students in post-primary schools, has joined with Translink to encourage further uptake of the yLink card as young people receive their exam results.
Maeve Nethercott, Brand Representative at Translink, said:
“Results days are a significant moment, and what follows often means new routines, new places to get to and new costs to plan for. For those moving on to university, further education or into the workplace, transport is often one of the first practical costs to consider.
“Our yLink card is a straightforward way of reducing those costs, and we’d encourage all eligible young people to apply now ahead of their next chapters.”

“Education and student life shouldn’t be restricted by the price of a travel ticket. The Translink yLink card gives students the freedom to attend classes, travel home to families, see friends or access opportunities across Northern Ireland at a reduced cost.
