Translink is celebrating a major success after winning the Sustainability Project of The Year at the 2025 Business Eye Awards for its landmark Belfast Grand Central Station project.
These awards celebrate the businesses and leaders across Northern Ireland who are making a tangible impact in sustainability and leading the way in environmental responsibility and Environmental, Social, and Governance excellence.

“The multi-million pound project is the largest integrated transport hub on the island of Ireland and sets new standards in sustainable, low-carbon infrastructure.
From cutting over 942 tonnes of CO₂e through the use of recycled materials to installing to installing solar PV panels, a smart building management system and natural ventilation, in every aspect of the station. every aspect of the station was designed to support environmental resilience and regeneration. It also delivers real social value through green skills training, apprenticeships, and stronger communities connections.
The project involved more than 80 local suppliers and was delivered through seven major contracts, strengthening Northern Ireland’s construction sector. This collaborative approach kept value circulating within the local economy, reduced transport emissions, and promoted sustainable procurement practices.
