Titanic Belfast and EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin were lit up in red as the sun set yesterday evening, to mark Canada Day (1 July). The illumination was organised by Tourism Ireland in Toronto to keep Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland to the fore in Canada.

Dana Welch, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Canada, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted that Canada Day is being marked this week in Northern Ireland and on the island of Ireland, with two of our most popular visitor attractions lighting up in red. The illumination indicates a gesture of genuine friendship between Canada and the island of Ireland. We look forward to welcoming Canadian visitors to Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland, as soon as the time is right.”
