The Aurora Zone Launches Exclusive New Accommodation

The Aurora Zone unveils exclusive new mobile Aurora Huts in Nangu, Finland

The UK’s original Northern Lights holiday company, The Aurora Zone, has today launched exclusive new Aurora accommodation – the Aurora Huts in Nangu, Finland.

The first of their kind, and currently only available through The Aurora Zone for stays from 10 December 2019, the eco-friendly, mobile Aurora Huts can be situated on ice, snow or water to get the very best view of the Lappish skies and surrounding wilderness. This winter, the Aurora Huts will sit on the frozen waters of Lake Inari, offering visitors the chance to experience sleeping on a frozen lake and watching for the Northern Lights from the huts’ large panoramic windows and the comfort of their own bed.

The Aurora Huts are powered by environmentally-friendly sources – electricity is generated by solar power in summer and in winter heating and electricity is generated by biofuel.

Commenting on the new accommodation, Alistair McLean, Managing Director of The Aurora Zone, says: “There is no better place to see the Northern Lights than from a frozen lake deep within the Arctic Circle. A pitch-black sky surrounded by snow-deadened silence creates an atmosphere like no other. Add a sky ablaze with swirling green light and you’ve got a truly magical experience. Our partners have come up trumps again with the new Aurora Huts – solving the problem of getting cold while watching the skies for the dance of the Lights. This is a fantastically exciting concept and I can’t wait to spend a night out on the frozen ice of Lake Inari.”

With a double bed, private composting toilet and WiFi, the huts are understated-Scandi in design, with stylish, cosy touches that bring the outside in and feel at one with the surrounding natural world, making a night’s stay the perfect addition to any Nangu break.
