Switzerland has announced today  (20 December)  that travellers with proof of full vaccination status or recovery from COVID-19 will be allowed into the country provided that they present a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours of arrival.

Prior to this, Switzerland were only accepting travellers with negative PCR tests taken within three days.

Switzerland has also removed the requirement to take a test between the fourth and seventh day following your arrival.

In an announcement to the press, the Federal Council said that “after consulting the cantons, the Federal Council has also adapted the testing regime for entering the country, applicable from Monday, December 20.”

However, measures have been tightened for unvaccinated Swiss residents by replacing the 3G rule with the 2G Rule.

This means that only residents who are vaccinated or can prove recovery from Covid-19 will be allowed into restaurants, cultural, sporting and leisure establishments. Where unvaccinated residents will still only be permitted to attend outdoor events.
