Surge in Stena Line Bookings as Christmas Draw Near

Leading ferry operator Stena Line has announced a significant increase in bookings as the festive period gets closer

Leading ferry operator Stena Line has announced a significant increase in bookings as the festive period gets closer and more people decide on sailing as their preferred method of travel from Britain to NI and ROI.

The recent announcement of the travel window (22nd to 28th December) for travel to and from Northern Ireland resulted in a 200% increase in bookings from the previous week*.  Bookings made during the week commencing December 7th are up 41% on the Liverpool to Belfast route when compared to the same time last year whilst bookings on the Cairnryan to Belfast route are up 22%.

Orla Noonan, Stena Line’s Travel Commercial Manager, Irish Sea said: “Bookings on our Irish Sea routes have experienced a sharp increase over the past couple of weeks demonstrating that more and more people are choosing to travel with Stena Line this year.

“Over the travel window period, Stena Line has 116 sailings operating on the Irish Sea available over a 24-hour period, ensuring there is a sailing and time to suit everyone. A high demand and reduced passenger capacity due to social distancing means we strongly advise people to book as soon as possible and to consider all our routes including Liverpool to Belfast, Cairnryan to Belfast, Holyhead to Dublin and Fishguard to Rosslare.

“As well as offering a wide range of travel options we have a host of reassuring safety measures onboard including plenty of space to ensure social distancing, increased cleaning measures and ventilation systems operating with 100% fresh air.

“Travelling with Stena Line means that our customers have the advantage of driving straight onto the ship, plus they can pack as much as they can into their cars, ensuring all those important gifts can be taken home for the festive period. We offer lots of facilities for passengers to choose from including the luxurious Stena Plus lounge, onboard shopping, a cinema and a variety of places to dine,” added Orla.

Fares start at £109** for a single, car and driver and foot passengers can travel for just £22 single. Passengers can also travel by coach & sail from only £28 single or rail & sail from £33 single.

Stena Line is the Irish Sea’s leading ferry company with an unrivalled choice of routes and sailings to Northern Ireland and Britain. The new Stena Embla will be making its much anticipated arrival to the Irish Sea from January 2021 where it will begin service and boost capacity on the Belfast to Liverpool route.
