At noon on Friday 1 May all Stena Line vessels will sound their horns to show support for seafarers around the world. More than 1.6 million men and women are key workers keeping vital supply lines open between countries during the pandemic COVID-19 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
“Stena Line plays an important part in the European logistics network and onboard our ferries our customers transport vital goods such as medicines and supplies for healthcare, as well as fresh food for supermarket shelves. Therefore, we want to highlight the important work undertaken by our key worker seafarers and our colleagues onboard our vessels, in theses challenging times,” says Erik Lewenhaupt, Head of Sustainability and Communication at Stena Line.
Stena Line is operating 30 ferries on 18 routes across Europe, supporting societies and keeping vital supply lines open 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the pandemic.

What’s the honking about?
Well the world’s in a difficult situation right now – but at the same time there are a lot of people doing fantastic things. We want to sound the horns to celebrate all those fantastic front line workers, including men and women at sea and in port. Making sure the vital supply lines stay open when we need them the most.
How many ships are honking?
In Stena Line we currently have 30 ships in regular operation that are honking their horns to celebrate the 1.6 million men and women at sea that are so important to keeping our countries running and shops supplied.
Who are you honking for?
We are celebrating the 1.6 million men and women at sea, front line workers in ports, drivers on the lorries, people in logistics, custom officials, coast guard and everyone else that makes sure the flow of goods do not stop in times of crisis.
