Statement from NI Travel News Regarding April/May 2020 Edition

The team at Northern Ireland Travel News remains committed to supporting the travel and tourism industry across our digital channels during this tough time, however due to the current Government restrictions, we feel that it is only right that we suspend the print edition of NI Travel News

The team at Northern Ireland Travel News remains committed to supporting the travel and tourism industry during this tough time. We are providing regular COVID-19 updates on our website – www.nitravelnews.com – and via social media.

Due to the current Government restrictions, we feel that it is only right that we suspend the print edition of NI Travel News, the digital version will be available across all devices, including our new mobile version.

We have made this decision for multiple reasons:

  1. The COVID-19 virus is having an unprecedented effect on the global travel and tourism industry, and we must all take cost cutting measures to ensure that when it is over we are here to continue the 30 years of support to our industry.
  2. Restricted print – due to government restrictions
  3. Our main distribution areas are travel agencies, airports, ferry terminals, hotels, tourist boards and newsagents, many of which have now been closed to help prevent the spread of the virus. Without our main distribution network, we feel that our resources could be better spent in investigating new and various ways to bring you the most up-to-date travel news.

With this in mind we have developed a new mobile viewing platform for the digital edition of the newspaper. With seventy per cent of all our online traffic coming from mobiles it only made sense to make the digital edition more mobile-user friendly. The newspaper articles are broken down into reader-friendly bitesize chunks, making for a quick and smooth read. Check it out for yourself for our March 2020 edition where you can also find our 30th Anniversary supplement.

Stay safe. We are stronger together.
