Sports Entertainment Tours hit the ground running in 2021, in the height of a global pandemic, starting a company based around sports travel, when people could not travel, or attend sports events may seem a little crazy to some. However, Belfast men John Boyde and Seán McIlkenny had other ideas.
Spotting a gap in the market for a quality service to bring fans to the best sports events around the world, experienced travel professionals, John and Seán, got to work on their new company, with a firm ethos of providing the best possible service for their clients.
Managing Director, Boyde said “We knew it would be a difficult start, however, we also had confidence that during this time we could work on the intricacies of the business and iron out any pain points for our customers. The reaction so far has been amazing, we have had numerous repeat clients and have sent customers to a multitude of different sports events including Premier League football matches, World title boxing bouts, Horse Racing, Rugby Internationals and lots more.”
Tough starts aside, the company has big plans for 2022, Sports Entertainment Tours are fully licensed and continue to work on developing their partnerships with global suppliers to ensure the best possible offering for their customers. Plans include making a concerted effort to break in to the corporate entertainment sector, with the world gradually opening up, the company sees its sector playing a vital role in their future success, and with the experience and contacts in place, this is a very attainable goal to be achieved in 2022.
In relation to repeat customers, Sales and Operations Director, Seán McIlkenny said “We are humbled by the support shown to date, and this is in no small part due to the hard work and long hours the team have put in to get us to this point. We are not the perfect company just yet as there is always improvements and learnings to be made, however, we are definitely moving in the right direction. The local market in Northern Ireland has been an initial focus for us and it is great to see the high standard we have set ourselves is paying off with the number of returning clients we are currently seeing.”
This month sees an exciting development as tickets for Belfast boxer Michael Conlan’s world title tilt in Nottingham have gone on sale, Sports Entertainment Tours are working closely with the promoters Conlan Boxing on ticket sales and helping fans travel to show their support for their local hero.
