Spanish airports could be set to follow the UK as its introduces new liquid laws at security.

The Spanish Airport Management AENA has announced that liquid restrictions at some Spanish airports could be lifted at the beginning of 2024.

Larger items such as wine bottles, oil and other liquid souvenirs could be brought through security.

The installation of new 3d x-ray scanners will allow security staff at the airports to clearly see throughout both liquids and electronics, eliminating the need to remove such items from bags.

Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El-Prat will be the first airports to introduce the scanners, with limitations to be lifted from Palma de Mallorca airport at the end of 2024. Malaga Costa del Sol will look to adapt this by 2025,with Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Fuerteventura, Cesar Manrique Lanzarote, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez, Ibiza, Bilbao, Menorca, and Valencia beginning in the year 2026.
