Ski Operators Extend Cancellations

A number of ski operators have reportedly extended cancellations as French government warns ski seas could be a write-off

A number of ski operators have reportedly extended cancellations as French government warns ski seas could be a write-off.

The French Government confirmed that all Alpine ski lifts will remain closed until the end of February.

French Tourism Minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said: “We are looking at a saison blanche (a white season).

“The term does not refer to the amount of snow, which has been copious this year, but that it will be a non-event.

“The government is well aware that the sector needs clarity and we are committed to providing this with regard to the rest of the season as quickly as possible.”

Club Med has cancelled its ski program until February 27 while Crystal Ski Holidays has suspended all holidays until March 5.

Meanwhile, Crystal Holidays said they “can’t operate… holidays to Andorra, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Finland, France, Italy, Norway, Switzerland or the USA for departures up to and including 5 March 2021.”
