Ski Holidays Don’t Need to be Exclusive – Local Tour Operator

A recent report from travel insurance specialist, Columbus Direct - where it claims ski holidays are still exclusive - has been challenged by local tour operator, Travel Solutions

The report claims that the average cost of a six day ski holiday for a family of four is £4,688, which Columbus Direct claim is nearly a fifth of the average families annual disposable income.

Responding to the report, Travel Solutions Managing Director Peter McMinn stated: “ We can only assume that when complying this report Columbus Direct restricted their research to the expensive resorts of Austria, Italy and France. Travel Solutions operate a very popular ski holiday programme to The Balkans, where a family of four can holiday for less than £2,400 – almost 50 per cent cheaper than the cost reported”.

“Travel Solutions have worked hard to make ski holidays more affordable and the increase in popularity over the past few years clearly indicates that we are doing something right. In recent years we have managed to offer a weeks skiing for under £500 per person which puts ski holidays within the budget of most holidaymakers, and certainly not exclusive as this report would try and suggest”.

Offering further evidence, Peter McMinn stated: “Not only are our ski packages great value for money, but when our guests are in resort they very quickly discover how far their money goes, with the price for lunch on the slopes in Bulgaria normally cheaper than the price of a drink in one of the expensive resorts in Austria, Italy or France”.

Travel Solutions operate a weekly charter flight from Belfast to Bulgaria from December to March, In addition, the company offers flights from Dublin to Sofia and to Bucharest in Romania.
