Silversea, the ultra-luxury cruise line, is offering its guests a number of pioneering travel experiences in 2020, from the launch of two new ships to the first-ever seven-continent World Cruise. The cruise line looks ahead to the innovations that will continue to push boundaries in travel through 2020 and beyond.
In July 2020, Silversea will launch Silver Origin, the cruise line’s first ever destination-specific ship, which will unlock deep travel experiences for guests in the Galapagos Islands. Designed with the environment in mind, Silver Origin will combine Silversea’s local destination expertise with the cruise line’s trademark level of luxury to offer guests the ultimate destination experience.
The 100-passenger, all-suite Silver Origin will build on Silversea’s accrued know-how in the Galapagos Islands to form deeper connections between guests and the destination. In addition to the ship’s pioneering design and guests’ unique experiences ashore – which will be led by Silversea’s Expedition Team, who are certified by the National Park of the Galapagos – this immersive concept will see guests enjoy Ecuadorian culture on board, through insightful content, including daily briefings, lectures, videos, and scientific information; authentic local cuisine, prepared by expert Ecuadorian chefs; and various other luxurious enhancements. Offering the highest Zodiac-to-guest ratio in the region, at 1:12.5, Silver Origin will be a luxurious outpost from which guests will enjoy personalised experiences throughout the Galapagos Islands.
Alongside the launch of Silver Origin, Silversea continues to invest in training to ensure it offers its guests the best Expedition Team in the business. In November 2019, Silversea completed its third Expedition Training Academy and the participants will join Silver Origin when she launches next summer.
Silver Moon, featuring S.A.L.T.
Embarking on her inaugural voyage on 6 August 2020, the 596-guest Silver Moon will echo the whispered elegance of the cruise line’s current flagship, Silver Muse, while bringing unprecedented enhancements and elements of innovation. Maintaining the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation that are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience, Silver Moon will unlock deep travel experiences for guests, as they enjoy Silversea’s industry-leading service.
Silversea’s new culinary programme, S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste), is set to revolutionise culinary travel for the cruise line’s guests, when it launches aboard Silver Moon. Elevating the role of food as a means to travel deeper into a destination, S.A.L.T. will showcase entire ecosystems around culinary cultures of the world through on-board and shore-based experiences with the S.A.L.T. Kitchen, S.A.L.T. Bar, S.A.L.T. Lab and S.A.L.T. shore excursions.
Silver Moon will spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean before moving to Central and South America, where guests will complete an incredible circumnavigation of the continent on the Grand South America 2021, visiting 37 destinations in 20 countries between 7 January and 17 March 2021.
Northwest & Northeast Passage Crossings in 2020
In summer 2020, Silversea will mark another milestone, operating two concurrent crossings of the Northwest and Northeast Passages, aboard Silver Cloud and Silver Explorer, respectively. A 24-day voyage, the crossing of the Northwest Passage will depart Kangerlussuaq for Nome on 21 August 2020, journeying through remote regions in Greenland, Canada, and Alaska. The Northeast Passage crossing will depart Nome on 22 August and will arrive in Tromsø 25 days later, taking guests deeper into the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of Alaska, Russia, and Norway. Both promise a wealth of remarkable experiences in some of the world’s most remote regions.
World Cruise Programme Continues to Push Boundaries
On 6 January 2020, Silver Whisper will depart on the 140-day Legends of Cruising World Cruise, which will be the first-ever World Cruise to take in all seven continents.
For 2021, Silversea will offer two pioneering World Cruises, including the world’s first-ever Expedition World Cruise, described as the ‘Uncharted World Tour’. On 30 January 2021, Silversea’s Silver Cloud will depart Ushuaia, Argentina, on a 167-day journey of discovery. The world’s most luxurious ice-class crossover ship will unlock unforgettable experiences for guests in 30 countries across six continents, covering a total of 39,000 nautical miles.
For connoisseurs of travel who wish to get closer to the authentic beauty of the world at a relaxed pace, Silversea’s Silver Whisper will set sail on the ‘Finest World Tour’ 2021. This 54-port, 150-day, 34-country itinerary will begin with the departure of Silver Whisper from Fort Lauderdale on 7 January 2021, and will conclude in New York on 6 June For the World Cruise 2021, world-cruising guests will both embark and debark in the USA, having travelled around the planet.
Silversea strengthens Antarctica programme with conversion of Silver Wind
Silver Wind will complete a major refurbishment in November 2020 which will give her ice-class classification and improved cruising versatility. As a result, Silver Wind will unlock a broader range of deep travel experiences for guests in ultimate comfort, cruising both classic and expedition itineraries with her inaugural Antarctica season commencing November 2020.
Antarctica Bridge, on Sale from December 10, 2019
Another first in the ultra-luxury segment, Silversea has opened sales on a new fly-cruise service to Antarctica in business-class comfort, as part of the largest ever Antarctica offering in the cruise line’s history. Named Antarctica Bridge, the new service will provide discerning travellers with the fastest, most direct route to the White Continent. Departing from December 2021, the collection of 12 fly-cruise voyages aboard Silver Explorer will further enhance Silversea’s industry-leading, all-inclusive Polar offering. Sales start from £13,300 per person, based on two sharing.
