Encompassing Pacific island paradises, ancient and modern wonders of Asia and the marvels of Arabia, the epic voyage will conclude in May in the eternal city of Rome.
The evening prior to departure, Silver Whisper’s guests were serenaded with live orchestral music as they enjoyed a gala bon voyage dinner at the glamorous Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. The dinner is one of several unique complimentary benefits for World Cruise guests, including seven special cultural events that await them in Tahiti, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Mumbai and Sorrento.
For example, guests can look forward to an exclusive evening of performance and conversation in Melbourne with the award-winning Kate Ceberano, one of Australia’s most popular female singers. In Hong Kong, an evening of good fortune will be celebrated with sumptuous local delicacies served at the iconic Verandah Restaurant at The Repulse Bay hotel, topped off with a presentation of traditional Chinese arts. And in Sorrento, as a grand finale event, guests will enjoy a gala dinner with musical entertainment at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, where dessert will be savoured al fresco, under a canopy of colourful fireworks.
Complementing this remarkable adventure, is an array of interior design upgrades and technical enhancements that were completed aboard Silver Whisper in December as part of the company’s fleetwide renovation programme launched at the end of 2016. Among the highlights are public spaces redesigned to echo the decor of Silversea’s new flagship, Silver Muse. These refreshed venues include the Observation Lounge, Panorama Lounge and La Terrazza.

Designed to spark the imagination of avid travellers, next year’s World Cruise, titled “The Tales of Tales,” is a far-reaching 132-day journey from San Francisco to London. Hosted aboard Silver Whisper, travellers will voyage in luxurious comfort to 52 ports in 31 countries across five continents. Plus, with 16 overnight calls and numerous late-night stays, guests will have ample time to delve deeper into iconic destinations.
With this unique voyage, Silversea has the pleasure of inviting nine writers aboard to seek the drama of the unknown and the amazing. They will each create a short story inspired by regions of sublime natural beauty and exotic cultures.
The result will be an exclusive anthology of the voyage, an unprecedented portrait of The Tale of Tales. Already confirmed to put their pen to paper are Paul Theroux, travel writer, novelist and winner of the James Tait Black Prize for Fiction; and Pico Iyer, novelist, travel writer and essayist since 1986 for Time magazine, Harper’s, The New York Times, and The New York Review of Books.
