Seventy Per Cent Affected by Ferry Delay Accept Alternative Bookings

Almost 70 per cent of those affected by the delay of Irish Ferries new superferry WB Yeats have now chosen to be accommodated on alternative sailings to France

A small number, just three per cent, have chosen to cancel and accept a full refund.

Dedicated teams in Irish Ferries are continuing to be in contact with the customers affected by the planned rescheduling of sailings on its Ireland-France route over the period July 12 to July 29, as a result of the likely late delivery of ‘W.B. Yeats’ by the builders, a German shipyard.

Irish Ferries says its teams are working to reschedule the remaining bookings to alternative sailings, or to offer a full refund.

Says a company statement: “Given the extraordinary circumstances behind these cancellations, which are outside of the company’s control, Irish Ferries is committed to assisting passengers in making alternative travel arrangements to France as best it can.

“We continue to allocate all necessary resources to assist the remaining passengers, and have adequate space and accommodation reserved for them, so as to ensure that their travel arrangements to and from France will proceed.

“Irish Ferries again apologises for the inconvenience caused to passengers booked on these sailings.”
