Gatwick Airport have announced their South Terminal will reopen next month following two years of inactivity

Gatwick Airport have announced their South Terminal will reopen next month following two years of inactivity.

Back in June 2020, the South Terminal ceased operation. With all flights operating from the airport’s North Terminal in order to save on costs.

Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal is set to open ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer season, with an opening date of Sunday 27th of March confirmed.

This reopening comes as the United Kingdom witnesses an increase in international travel following the removal of travel testing for fully-vaccinated passengers.

Chief Executive Officer at Gatwick Airport, Stewart Wingate stated that “After an incredibly challenging two years for the airport, our partners, local communities and the entire aviation industry, we are delighted to be reopening our South Terminal next month.”

“Following some major announcements from our airlines about significantly increased flying schedules, and from government on removing travel restrictions and airport slot regulations, we can now look forward to once again operating a busy Gatwick this summer.”
