Salute to Remote Isles of Scilly

CMV celebrates St George's Day with a salute to the remote Isles of Scilly

Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) is celebrating St George’s Day with a number of Round Britain cruises sailing in 2021 from a choice of 12 UK and Ireland ports. CMV’s British Isles cruises call in the Isles of Scilly.

As one of England’s most south-westerly points it presents an opportunity for passengers to visit a truly remote haven and experience the sub-tropical Abbey Gardens on Tresco.

Outstandingly beautiful, uncrowded and unspoilt, the Isles of Scilly lies just 28 miles off the tip of southwest England but are a world apart in every way. Drop anchor off the tranquil Isles of Scilly, a highlight of CMV’s British Isles cruises in 2021. These sub-tropical islands have a tranquillity and a quality of life very different from the mainland. Discover the purest of island escapes, a natural wonder, like a cluster of precious ocean jewels, where nature thrives and the soul is inspired. Everything looks and feels quite different on Scilly – simpler, kinder, more innocent. Life moves at an easier pace. So with the space and freedom to do everything, or nothing – this enchanting archipelago guarantees a magical, unforgettable experience.

St. Mary’s is the Isles of Scilly’s largest island and the gateway to the rest of the islands. Covering an area of little more than 6 square miles, it’s still not exactly bustling. Hugh Town is the central hub with its cluster of shops, churches, cafés, galleries, restaurants and pubs as well as the delightful museum. It has three lovely beaches in very close proximity. Tresco is the second largest of the islands and a sub-tropical gem. Passengers can choose to visit the world famous Tresco Abbey Garden which was established in the 1830s by Augustus Smith. This horticultural paradise hosts a spectacular collection of more than 20,000 exotic plants from all corners of the world – many of which cannot be grown anywhere else in Britain.

CMV’s elegant ship Marco Polo sails from London Tilbury 1 April 2021 on a 10-night Easter British Isles Discovery and calls at the Isles of Scilly and in addition the Orkney Isles, Isle of Skye, Isle of Mull, Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Guernsey plus bonus calls into Rotterdam and Honfleur (Normandy).

Later in the Spring Columbus sails from London Tilbury 19 June 2021 on a similar itinerary calling at the Isles of Scilly. CMV’s new fleet addition Amy Johnson sails Round Britain on a slightly different 10-night itinerary which also calls at the Isles of Scilly departing 12 July 2021.
