Saga Cruises and AmaWaterways Latest to Halt Sailings

Saga Cruises and AmaWaterways have become the latest cruise companies to announce they are suspending operations

Saga Cruises and AmaWaterways have become the latest cruise companies to announce they are suspending operations, following a warning from the Government against over-70s and those with serious medical conditions to avoid cruises.

Saga has suspended its cruise operations until May 1 and has warned its profits will be hit.

Customers who were due to travel in the next six weeks will be offered either a full refund or credit for a future departure.

It said suspending its cruise operations for the next six weeks would reduce profit in the division by between £10m and £15m.

AmaWaterways has delayed the start of its European sailing season to April 26 and is suspending Mekong River cruises, due to start on March 23.

Guests who were booked on a cruise that is being cancelled have the option of receiving a Future Cruise Credit equal to 115% of the value of all services purchased through AmaWaterways or receiving a full monetary refund.

The Future Cruise Credit is applicable on all European or Mekong River cruise sailings any time before December 31, 2022.
