Planet cruise have seen a rise in cruise lines cranking up their health and fitness offerings onboard, ranging from traditional spas and fitness facilities, to fully immersive health and wellness breaks

Ranging from a 24 Karat Gold Facial to whipped chocolate body masks to completely overhauled restaurant menus, cruise ships today have some of the best spa, fitness and wellbeing facilities in the world.

Brand New Wellness Programme from AmaWaterways

AmaWaterways have launched a brand new Wellness Programme which looks to improve the beauty and leisure that river cruising is renowned for, with the offering of an onboard Wellness Host, and delivering a variety of exercise classes, including yoga, core strengthening, circuit training, morning jogs and stretch classes.

Also onboard are a set of inspiring talks centred on healthy eating and relaxation techniques. The AmaWaterways ships are fully equipped for health and wellbeing with a fleet of pushbikes, a fitness room, massage services, a whirlpool or swimming pool and a walking track. Even food has been addressed, with AmaWaterways integrating healthy eating, locally-sourced produce and Gluten-free, low-sodium and vegetarian options.

This inclusive experience offers cruisers access to a detailed health assessment and corresponding fitness program, exclusive active shore excursions, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and a variety of healthy food and drink options, all to ensure a healthy and balanced getaway.  Alternatively, for those who prefer the sauna to the weights room, MSC Cruises also offer an ‘Aurea Experience’ which incorporates a massage from the spa menu, a tanning shower, a private wellness consultation and free access to the Thermal Area, throughout the cruise.

The wellness continues even as you hit the pillow with Princess Cruises. The line has partnered with sleep expert Dr. Michael Breus and design expert Candice Olson to develop a new Princess Luxury Bed, which will be found in every stateroom across the fleet from 2019. Developed by the manufacturer of some of the world’s most comfortable hotel beds, these will incorporate a plush two-inch thick pillow top, a nine-inch single sided medium firm mattress, individually wrapped coils for less partner disturbance, and luxurious Jacquard-woven cotton linens. This, combined with the gentle rocking of the ship, will envelope guests in pure comfort bliss, so they wake up each morning revitalised for the day ahead.
