In 2024, Cleveland, Ohio will be the place to visit with a total solar eclipse, the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the reopening of a completely modernised Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Aer Lingus offers the only direct service between Europe and Cleveland. Following the launch of Aer Lingus’ direct flight from Dublin to Cleveland in May 2023, there has been a substantial increase in both leisure and business travellers to Cleveland; the route has performed well on both sides of the Atlantic with 85% occupancy throughout October 2023.

On 8 April at 3.13pm, Cleveland will be in the path of totality for the solar eclipse. Fr nearly four minutes, the moon will completely block out the sun, one of the longest durations of any major U.S. city in the path of totality.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park was the 9th most visited U.S. National Park in 2022, with over 2.9 million visitors and celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024. Visitors can explore the park while hiking, biking, birding, or taking a picturesque ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

The $150-million redevelopment of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, which includes the addition of new public spaces and the expansion of the campus and its exhibits, is scheduled for completion in late 2024.

The world-famous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will host the annual induction ceremony at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Autumn 2024, bringing music’s biggest stars to Cleveland. Inductees in 2023 included George Michael, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow and Chaka Khan. Nominees for induction this year will be announced soon.

Emily Lauer, Vice President of PR and Communications at Destination Cleveland said: “We are very pleased that the route is doing so well and look forward to welcoming even more travellers from Ireland this year. We will continue to work with the Irish travel trade to raise awareness of Cleveland and all it offers to visitors. I’m excited to support Aer Lingus on its roadshow in February.”

Ivan Beacom, Business Manager Europe Leisure Sales for Aer Lingus, commented: “Aer Lingus’ Cleveland route is going from strength to strength since it launched in May 2023. Many passengers are mixing business with leisure travel, and we are looking forward to a strong 2024 with plenty of excitement happening in Cleveland to attract travellers.”

Aer Lingus operate direct from Dublin to Cleveland four times a week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday), with connections from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Visit aerlingus.com.
