Out of The Wilderness: Center Parcs Revoke Plan To Remove Holidaymakers on Day of Queen’s Funeral

Following social media backlash, Center Parcs have revoked plans asking holidaymakers to leave their accommodation on Monday 19th September

Following social media backlash, Center Parcs have revoked plans asking holidaymakers to leave their premises on Monday 19th September due to closures marking the Queen’s funeral.

Initially, Center Parcs released a statement clarifying that, “we have made the decision to close all our UK villages on Monday 19 September as a mark of respect and to allow as many of our colleagues as possible to be part of this historic moment.”

Center Parks further commented that, “guests who were due to arrive on Monday 19 September should not travel on this day, though we will reopen on Tuesday 20 September and be ready to welcome our guests then.”

Subsequently, travellers who were not yet due to depart on Monday 19 September would have been required to leave the premise and find alternative accommodation for the evening. Before continuing their holiday the next morning once Center Parks officially reopened.

Other options included a full refund if guests wanted to delay or cancel their holiday.

This announcement received severe back-lash from those embarking on week-long stays at one of the five Center Parks locations throughout the UK.

Many customers took to the company’s social media pages to highlight their disappointment, one particular post read “Sorry, but this is an awful, awful decision that has left us devastated, by all means close the restaurants and activities, but let us stay on the park!!”

As a result of this public anger, Center Parcs issued a new statement “The vast majority of our guests are either due to arrive or depart on Monday 19th September.

“We have however, reviewed our position regarding the very small number of guests who are not due to depart on Monday, and we will be allowing them to stay on our villages rather than having to leave and return on Tuesday.

“The villages will still remain closed on Monday, and we will be offering a discount for the lack of facilities available on that day.”

Northern Ireland Travel News have reached out to Center Parcs to find out what refund policies are available for holidaymakers affected.
