ONGOING INCIDENT: City Of Derry Airport Issues Urgent Advice

City of Derry Airport advises passengers not to travel to the airport - all London Heathrow flights cancelled

The Metropolitan police has now confirmed that the counter-terrorism command is leading inquiries as to the source of fire at the substation in Hayes, while stressing there is “currently no indication of foul play.”

There is also no clarity on when power may be reliably restored at Heathrow Airport.

In a statement, City of Derry Airport said: “Due to a fire at an electrical substation supplying Heathrow Airport, all London flights from City of Derry Airport have been cancelled today Friday 21 March.  Passengers are advised not to travel to the airport but to contact their airline to make alternative arrangements

“All other flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Birmingham are operating as normal.

“We will send an update when we are advised of any changes to the ongoing incident.”
