One Year on From Travel Day of Action in NI and ANITA Remain the Political Voice of Our Industry

The Association of Northern Ireland Travel Agents says "ANITA will remain as the political voice of our industry here" one year on from travel day of action

The Association of Northern Ireland Travel Agents says “ANITA will remain as the political voice of our industry here” one year on from travel day of action.

Damian Murphy, Chairman of travel agent lobbying group, ANITA said: “One year on from our day of action and I still get asked was it worth organising or did we actually achieve anything?

“My answer to both is an emphatic YES. 23rd June 2021 saw one of the biggest coming together our industry here has seen in a show of strength and solidarity with England, Scotland and Wales.

“We generated a lot of publicity on the day putting our case even further in the public eye and making sure the ANITA name is as recognisable as any in our industry both inbound and outbound.

“Since that day we continued to engage with other representatives within our sector as well as running a long and almost very successful campaign for a second grant- the only reason this did not come to fruition was the falling of our own executive.

“Going forward ANITA will remain as the political voice of our industry here and when our executive is eventually reformed we will resume our fight to have money that we were promised back in March paid to us.

“The name of ANITA is now well known at all political levelled here and it will certainly not be a case of going back to square one.”
