Dozens of travel agents have been honoured for their efforts in the most challenging ever period for the trade at the Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards, held in London’s Park Plaza Westminster Hotel last night (September 16).
Oasis Travel picked up the Agent Achievement Award in the Northern Ireland category, while Hays Travel took home two awards, winning both the High Street Agency of the Year – Large award and the Yorkshire, North Midlands and North East England – Large Agency of the Year gong.
Speaking of the win, Sandra Corkin of Oasis Travel said: “I am delighted with the award and want to thank the team at Oasis who have worked tirelessly over the last 18 months in an effort to maintain contact with our clients and where possible to protect bookings. Also a thank you to the wonderful support we have received from suppliers.”
Irene Hays of Hays Travel was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award, a much deserved accolade.
The Republic of Ireland category award was picked up by Cassidy Travel while Barrhead Travel took home the award for Scotland – Large Agency and the Homeworking Agency of the Year award went to Travel Counsellors.
Winners on the evening were praised not only for their professionalism over the course of the industry’s biggest ever challenge, but also for showing support to partners, colleagues, customers and their communities.
This year, the Agent Achievement Awards were streamlined to reflect demands on agency resources, with a focus on supplier-voted categories and a small number of individual awards.
