Norwegian Air Set for Financial Boost

Struggling carrier Norwegian Air is set for a cash injection from the Norwegian government

The Norwegian government is set to give struggling carrier Norwegian Air a cash injection to help it survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government agreed to provide financial backing for troubled airline providing it meets a number of conditions.

Norwegian did not specify what conditions the government had imposed in return for the aid.

In a statement, Norwegian Chief Executive Jacob Schram said: “Norwegian has been faced with a very challenging and demanding situation due to the pandemic, and the government’s support significantly increases our chances of raising new capital and getting us through the reconstruction process we are currently in.

“We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but a participation from the government underscores that we are heading in the right direction.”
