Northern Ireland Travel Agents Association Confirms that Travellers Returning to NI from France WILL have to Self-Isolate

The Association of Northern Ireland Travel Agents has confirmed that travellers from Northern Ireland returning from France will still have to self-isolate for 10 days.

It had been hoped that Northern Ireland would not follow England and Wales in this instance, however it seems like the Executive have chosen to be cautious over the so-called Delta variant, prevalent across France at the minute.

Damian Murphy from ANITA said that while the Association welcome the news that “people returning from Amber List destinations would no longer have to isolate on their return provided they were vaccinated or under 18” however said the “short notice” decision on France “completely wreck consumer confidence and negate a lot of what has been achieved in the first place”.

He said: “If travel is to progress in a meaningful way we need more clarity on what might cause such an action and evidence to back up the need for such drastic action. We hope that this will prove to be an isolated incident and that moving forward the ability to now travel more freely to amber list destinations will help get our industry moving again.”
