NITN Exclusive: A Day on Ponant’s Le Dumont D’urville

The fourth ship in Ponant’s Explorer series, Le Dumont D'urville arrived in Belfast, NI Travel News' Erin English was pleased to be invited down to spend a day exploring everything that this beautiful ship has to offer

Yesterday (20th of June 2022), the fourth ship in Ponant’s Explorer series, Le Dumont D’urville arrived in Belfast. Docking in our home city, Northern Ireland Travel News’ Erin English was pleased to be invited down to spend a day exploring everything that this beautiful ship has to offer both agents and the public.

Arriving at Belfast’s Cruise Terminal, with the sunshine in our midst.  Our group, made up of the Northern Irish Travel Trade, were greeted by Danny Giles, Ponant’s Sales Manager for North, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Ireland, who guided us through the elegant surroundings of this 430 ft luxury vessel.

Ponant’s Le Dumont D’Urville is home to many exquisite and unique features that go above and beyond any guest’s expectations.  Ponant’s Explorers Series focuses on delivering an exceptional and comfortable guest experience grounded in elegance and refinement. While also focusing on providing unique and innovative itineraries in which guests can experience those once in a lifetime destinations such as the Norwegian Fjords and The Caribbean, plus many more!

Our deep delve into the Le Dumont D’Urville began by exploring the guest areas throughout the ship.  Ponant’s clear aim of bringing the ‘outside in’ is achieved with spectacular success as many of the guest areas are accompanied with breath-taking views of the surrounding area.  Whether it be indulging in a cocktail on the ship’s panoramic lounge and observatory on Deck Six, which provides guest access to both a library and a bar.

Or heading down for an evening  in the ship’s immersive and innovative Blue Eye, a multi-sensory underwater lounge that provides views of what remains below the ocean’s surface. A trip down to the Blue Eye made it almost impossible not to imagine what the views must be like when cruising through the Caribbean, where the crystal-clear waters would allow guests to take in the vibrant colours of the aquatic life.

Much like the underwater lounge, Ponant’s Le Dumont D’Urville allows guests to break through the surface of expectations of a cruising holiday.  Guests are encouraged to indulge themselves in the opulent areas onboard, such as the Wellness Area located on Deck 7, the Theatre on Deck 3, and the Pool Deck, which provided some much needed Rest and Relaxation, especially on days like yesterday. Where the sun-illuminated the already glistening decks of Le Dumont D’Urville.

Seeking some more rest and relaxation? The accommodation offering onboard the vessel was quite literally where dreams are made of! With a neutral colour scheme, natural lighting and spacious areas.  All of the 94 staterooms and suites onboard are the perfect place to rest your head after a day of exploration.  On our visit, our group explored the Deluxe Suite which offers guests a king or twin-bed offering, along with a private balcony, a dressing/vanity area, a fully-stocked minibar (with a Nespresso Coffee Machine provided.)

The restaurant located on Deck Four, known as the Le Nautilus Gastronomic Restaurant provides exceptional culinary homages to Ponant’s French heritage. With enough space to accommodate, Le Dumont D’Urville’s entire 184 capacity in one sitting for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Guests won’t go hungry on this exquisite ship.

Ponant offer a range of itineraries ,where indulgence meets exploration, onboard the Le Dumont D’Urville, along with the rest of it’s fleet.  To find out more about Le Dumont D’Urville along with Ponant’s range itineraries and offerings visit, https://uk.ponant.com/
