Travel agents across Northern Ireland have issued statements of reassurance to their customers after flight disruption takes place in areas of the Middle East, affecting routes including Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The travel industry says support is in place for customers while airlines and officials monitor the situation.
Travel companies including Hays Travel, Barrhead Travel, Travel Solutions, Downe Travel, and Oasis Travel say that they are monitoring government updates and contacting customers who’s holidays are immediately affected.
Agents understand the uncertainty this will be causing to customers but stress that they will be in touch with further updates.
Oasis Travel stated that, “If you have booked an ATOL protected package and your flight has been cancelled then, as a tour operator and travel agent, we will either offer you an alternative flight to get your destination or a refund.”
Their team are closely monitoring developments and liaising with airline and ground partners as needed.
Travel Solutions advised that, “Our primary focus is on passengers where return travel plans have been affected and on passengers who are due to travel (both within the next 48 hours), followed by customers who are travelling outside of this timescale.”
Hays Travel and Barrhead Travel announced that they are experiencing high volumes of enquiries and are prioritising support for customers whose travel is most immediately affected.
Downe Travel said that no action is required from their customers unless they hear from a member of the Downe Travel team and are here to support and assist customers in providing updates as they receive them.
Thompson Travel have issued that customers should contact them directly and they will be happy to discuss bookings.
Travellers are being advised to monitor updates from airlines and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, although the travel industry emphasises the support systems that are in place for customers.
