Travel experts at eShores analysed flight delay times, security queue times and customer satisfaction

Manchester Airport ranks as the worst in the UK for overall efficiency, research reveals. The north-western airport ranked highest for flight delays and lowest for customer Google reviews, with an average flight delay of almost 28 minutes and a Google review score of just 3.0/5. Long security queues of up to 24 minutes also contribute to its position as ‘the least efficient airport’.

Travel experts at eShores analysed flight delay times, security queue times and customer satisfaction to compile the ranking of the best and worst airports in the UK.

The 5 worst airports for efficiency are:

  1. Manchester
  2. Luton
  3. Bristol
  4. Birmingham
  5. Leeds Bradford

While Manchester Airport scored the overall lowest for delays and Google reviews, Leeds Bradford appeared in the top five due to its security queue times. Taking an average of 35 minutes, the Yorkshire-based airport is the worst in the country for getting through security.

Passengers who want a seamless flight experience should opt to fly from London City Airport; this central London airport has the shortest security queues in the county with an average of just 12 minutes, and the shortest flight delay times in the UK at 13.9 minutes, explaining its Google review score of 4.1 – the highest of all the airports analysed.

  3. Glasgow
  4. Newcastle
  5. Belfast International

After London City, Belfast City ranked as the second best airport in the UK. The airport has a Google rating of 4.0, thanks to its fast security queues (13 minutes) and low average delay time (15 minutes).
