New Transport Secretary Appointed Following Landslide Election Result for Labour

Louise Haigh has been appointed as the Secretary of State for Transport

Louise Haigh has been appointed as the UK Secretary of State for Transport.

Following a landslide election win for Labour, Keir Starmer, the newly elected British Prime Minister, announced his cabinet appointments on Friday afternoon.

Previously, Haigh served as shadow transport secretary for Labour in opposition.

Haigh has also held the position of shadow Northern Ireland secretary and shadow policing minister.

Taking to X, Louise Haigh stated, “The hard work starts today.

Transport is at the heart of Labour’s mission-led Government.

We will deliver the biggest overhaul of public transport in a generation – putting passengers first, and transport infrastructure fit for modern Britain.”
