Following months of Covid related postponements the brand finally launched its first tour on the 3rd of August 2021. The aim of the new Irish tour company is to help support the recovery of the local hospitality and tourism industry by promoting and sharing Kevin and Aoife’s interest in great Irish Food and Drinks. Kevin says, Our passion is to showcase locally produced Irish Food and Drinks and to share that experience with our customers whilst embarking on an engaging walking tour of the city. It’s not a fine dining experience, we don’t offer lobster or champagne; we have researched the best local street food and drink the city has to offer and built it all into a fun filled informative walking tour of Dublin city.”

Walking Food Tours currently has two guided tours on offer: Food on Foot, and Beer on Foot. The tours take place in and around the Liberties in Dublin 8, an area often described as the heart and soul of Dublin city centre. Here every turn, every corner, every cobblestone has a tale to tell. Participants will discover the tastiest street food and beer Dublin has to offer visiting five locally run food and beverage stops on each tour. Initially the tours will take place on Saturdays and Sundays only, but the company intends to run a daily operation once tourism fully re-opens. All tours take place outdoors and fully comply with all social distance guidelines.

The initial reaction from customers has been excellent and positive comments have included highlights such as:

  • Great to experience what the locals eat and drink with no tourist menus
  • Qualified knowledgeable local guides
  • Got to see the real Dublin like a local & learn Irish History
  • Good insider recommendations and discounts on great Dublin restaurants
  • Lovely to experience traditional Dublin Pubs & Dining venues off the tourist trail
  • This was the best tour I attended in Ireland.

Walking Food Tours has also committed to donating €1 to the Pay It Forward charity programme from every online tour sold until the end of December’21.
